Riding v. Unsworth

Part 1

Riding v. Unsworth

Case brought by Thomas Riding of Manchester gentleman against John Unsworth of Manchester brickseller. Riding claims to have previously brought an action against John Copeck the administrator of his daughter Alice Copeck and to be owed £23 as a result. Riding claims that Unsworth met with him at the house or shop of James Aggerman of Manchester barber and peruke maker. Riding claims that Joseph Chippendale who he also employed as an attorney insisted on Unsworth acting as security for his fee and on this basis a promissory note was exchanged. Unsworth now claims that Riding is in debt to him, and Riding disputes this.
