Cooke v. Taylor

Part 1

Cooke v. Taylor

Case brought by Joseph Cooke (occupation and place not given) against William Taylor (occupation and place not given). William Taylor is the heir and executor of James Taylor the younger who during his lifetime borrowed £400 from Cooke using his property as his security. Cooke now seeks to recover this from the estate, whereas William Taylor claims that no money was borrowed. Also mentioned are James Taylor the elder (presumed the father of James Taylor) a cotton manufacturer of Hollywood within Oldham and Joseph Ogden of Pailsworth a weaver from whom the property was originally bought.
